Regional Validation Workshop on the Standards of Discharge Wastewater in the Niger Basin

On the occasion of the regional workshop for the validation of wastewater discharge standards of the Niger-Iullemeden Basin Aquifer System (NB-ITTAS) held on 18 May 2022 in Abuja,  the Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated, through his Minister of Resources, M. Engr Suleiman Adamu, its support and commitment to the implementation process of the UNIDO-TEST component in particular and its NB-ITTAS project in general. 

Supporting the modernization of industrial sectors in the Niger Basin through a systematic and integrated approach is more than ever crucial to reduce risks to ecosystems and people.

Supported by the Global Environment Facility International Waters program, and led by the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Environmental Programme, Project TEST Niger constitutes Component 3 of the larger project titled “Improving Integrated Water Resource Management, knowledge-based management and governance of the Niger Basin and the Iullemeden-Taoudeni/Tanezrouft Aquifer System (NB-ITTAS). Project TEST Niger is executed in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the Niger Basin Authority (NBA), The Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) and UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP).
